My parents introduced me to piano in 4th grade. I started chorus that same year and always pursued both. Nearing the end of high school, I was conflicted after participating in events like All-State Choruses and GHP piano. Ultimately, I chose to pursue a Bachelor's Degree at UGA in Choral Music Education as a Piano Major. I got to sing the great choral works with UGA and the ASO under Robert Shaw. As a pianist, I earned scholarhips and competition awards.
Teach In Harmony
Wanting to play more and learn more, I applied to many schools across the nation. I chose The University of Oklahoma for their national reputation in piano pedagogy. I was a TA as a Elementary Education Music Specialist (integrating music into traditional elementary school curriculum) and Piano Instructor to OU voice majors. I loved my time there surrounded by excellence and studying piano from the elite.
Dave and I found each other and got married eventually settling in Atlanta. I opened my piano studio while also teaching classroom music. There I returned to choral accompanying. I haven't looked back since!
I have been blessed to have 3 wonderful kids. My husband Dave and I argue about SEC football but that's about it. I love to play tennis, drink coffee, go to the gym and watch British TV shows.
